Home of the Flames!
Fred C. Cook Public School has waged nutritional war upon trans fats, refined white sugar and overprocessed foods!
In September 2009, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Report on the Health of Ontario’s Kids indicated a lack of physical activity and poor eating habits remain health concerns for children, even though statistics 10 years ago brought these problems to light. This is a startling truth which Fred. C. Cook (FCC) Public School has taken as a call to action.
Principal Lisa Taylor and teacher Sarah Tuck, along with cafeteria workers Carrol Dunford and Donna James, worked on a complete overhaul of the menu at the Fred C. Cook cafeteria. As of January 4, 2010, the FCC school cafeteria launched its new Heart Healthy Cafeteria Menu.
The new menu features whole grains instead of white bread and white flour products, yummy fruit and vegetable options, no- and low-sugar juices, yogurts, muffins, and a variety of other nutritious choices.
The FCC Lost and Found needs some help! We are looking for a mom, dad, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc. who would be able to build a new bin for our numerous lost and found items. If you are able to lend a “building” hand please contact the school. All materials will be supplied.
